Kings Cross Hospital

Kings college hospital is one of the busiest teaching hospitals in London which serves the boroughs of Southwark, Lambeth, Bromley and Lewisham. Kings College Hospital was originally opened in 1840 in the disused St Clement Danes workhouse close to Lincoln’s Inn Fields and Kings college itself. It was initially used as a training centre where medical students from Kings College London could learn and receive tuition from the college’s own professors.

InterFocus were commissioned to supply and design the Hospital Furniture to Kings College Hospital London. The design was based around the InterFocus Furniture System, with supporting TRESPA work surfaces. This combination has created a robust, reliable furniture set, providing a continuously high level of support for medical staff, medical students and patients alike.

Due to the hygiene requirements of the laboratory facility, the C Frame system was chosen alongside mobile laboratory furniture to facilitate the ease of cleaning. Trespa work surfaces were provided throughout to provide a clean and practical worktop solution suitable for the laboratory conditions.

The laboratory benching also incorporated our reagent shelving which provided adjusted shelving above the worktops and provided electrical outlets to the benches from a central location.

Naturally, a teaching hospital is an environment which relies heavily on quality furniture – ensuring that no environmental factors impact the teaching and care processes. We planned and supplied the furniture to exact requirements, ensuring they provide maximum value and assistance to the hospital. The furniture offers long-term benefits to the hospital – providing support in the wards and medical rooms for years to come.
